This class is designed for students who have taken Beginning Optimist at least once and demonstrated a good comfort level on the water. Under close instructor-student contact, sailors learn to become independent skippers by handling the sail and steering the boat at the same time. Emphasis will be on improving boat handling skills and confidence under a variety of wind conditions. Students can continue in additional sessions for a reduced fee (see below). We hope students will move on to the Advanced Optimist sailing class when they are ready. 1/2 Day Option: The Intermediate Optimist class is listed as a full day program. Several parents have inquired about taking it for only ½ day. If this is your only option, you can register for “morning only” or “afternoon only” for the classes listed. The cost would be the same as the Beginning Optimist classes: $190. If you have questions, please e-mail Larry Salzman at sailcalhoun@msn.com.
Notes: **Reduced fees for each add'l class: 1st $225, 2nd $195, 3rd $160, 4th $130 |
