This class is designed for students who have taken Beginning Optimist at least once and demonstrated a good comfort level on the water. Students are placed one per boat. Under close instructor-student contact, sailors learn to become independent skippers by handling the sail and steering the boat at the same time. Emphasis will be on improving boat handling skills and confidence under a variety of wind conditions. If you wish, you can register your child for both morning and afternoon classes. We will avoid repetition of curriculum where possible and we will provide supervison for full-day students during the lunch hour. Deduct $35 for the second class. We hope students will move on to the Advanced Optimist sailing class when they are ready.
