Beginning Sailing for Adults (& Teens) This 3-week evening class is a beginning sailing course that offers instruction on the fundamentals of sailing and boat handling in Club 420s. Adults learn skills such as rigging the boat, knot-tying, tacking and gybing, and landing at the dock or buoy. This class can be a great opportunity for parents to learn along with a teenage son or daughter.
*Please contact Larry Salzman to be placed on a waiting list for this class. In cooperation with the Calhoun Yacht Club, we are offering an opportunity to sail on a C boat, a 20' scow that has been a fixture on the Inland Lakes sailing scene for over 100 years. Members of the Calhoun Yacht Club will be teaching on boats that they typically race on Wednesdays and weekends. The course is divided into two sessions. Class 47 will present an introduction to sailing and handling a C boat and is a prerequisite for Class 48, which will introduce more advanced sailing and racing techniques and will give students opportunities to steer a C boat in race conditions.
